Citizens of the Czech Republic travelling to Canada are eligible to enter the country with a CANADA VISA FOR CZECH CITIZENS (Electronic Travel Authorisation).
The Canadian eTA is a valid online travel authorisation. It has a validity of 5 years and grants Czech nationals a stay of 6 months maximum during each visit.
The Canadian government introduced this online visa waiver in 2015 in agreement with selected countries. Czech citizens are included within the nationalities who are visa-exempt to visit Canada for tourism, business, or simply transiting through en-route to another destination.
CANADA ETA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Czech nationals must check they comply with the Canada eTA requirements before applying. They include the following:
- Have an electronic passport compatible with the eTA for Canada
- Submit a frequently used email address
- Possess a debit or credit card
The electronic passport (also referred to as biometric) is a secure travel document with a digital chip on its cover page. Most countries have automatic scanners at border controls that considerably reduce the time usually required for documentation. Czech nationals with a biometric passport should confirm it is valid for 180 days or more from the date of their arrival in Canada.
Czech applicants must ensure they request their Canadian eTA with a frequently used email address. The Canadian government issues all of their communications, including the confirmation of the eTA approval only by email. Lastly, they must also confirm the credit or debit card they use for payment carries sufficient funds and have been previously approved for online payments.
Czech nationals considering relocating to Canada for more stable periods of time looking for professional opportunities or completing higher studies should note that the Canadian eTA does not cover these activities. They should organize an appointment at the Canadian embassy in Prague to enquire which travel authorisation suits them more.
